Well hello there and thank you for stopping by! My name is Liz and that’s me above with my super awesome and dashingly handsome husband, James. I am a high school counselor by day and I love planning parties and events by night. Throughout the years I’ve had a fantastic time channeling my creative energy by hosting parties either for friends, family, or for myself. I recall being a child and having the time of my life planning my birthday parties. I loved coming up with themes and taking them to the next level (I suppose as far as I could go, given that I had no money and I was 7) But, by God I was going to make it the best party ever! We had pool parties, 50’s diner parties, mexican fiestas etc.
When I was in college, attending CSU, Chico, during the first year while living in the dorms, I decided to throw a gathering for a 100+ of my new closest friends. I thought a huge BBQ at One Mile in Lower Bidwell Park, a beautiful and cool place in Chico, CA would be a perfect location. I knew that living in the dorm, on a limited budget, meant pushing my party planning skills to a whole new platform. I contacted the cafeteria and they agreed to cater all of the food for the event as long as people provided their name and ID card number (this meal would count as their dinner for the night). So, if you didn’t come to the party, you didn’t eat. Good way to get people to come eh? Haha! Sure enough, the good folks of CSU, Chico pulled through with hamburgers, hotdogs, buns, salad, drinks, cookies, and potato salad. Enough to feed over 100 starving college students. The event was a success.
When people get married and plan a wedding, more often than not, they are incredibly overwhelmed by the details, the planning, and the organization. Not me, I was like, “are you kidding me? Now I can throw the raddest party ever!” (oh yes, and get married to the love of my life!). I loved planning the rehearsal dinner, the wedding, and we hosted a day after the wedding beach BBQ, because when we do it, we go big!
I have had the privilege of hosting baby showers, bachelorette parties, bridal showers, birthday parties, and my own shindigs. My husband and I recenty hosted a Great Gatsby themed New Years Eve party. It was fantastic and the guests looked smashing.
I’ve always considered a career as an event planner. However, I love being a high school counselor, so I don’t want to give up my day job. The beauty is that I have a Thanksgiving break, winter break, spring break, and summers off. So, I have plenty of time to have my cake and eat it too. My mom has been a pretty awesome party planning side kick, so I have to give a shout to her! Between her master seamstress skills and “Martha-Stewart-like” ways and my culinary adventures and party planning “visions”, we tend to pull off some pretty great events.
With the new year upon us, I decided to start this blog to share my love of event planning with you. Who knows, someday I may make a living doing this? I’m excited to finally share my collection of past and present events, recipes, and diy projects with you. Click on the menu above, then select “Let’s Get Blogging” to check out some of my events! Always make sure to eat, drink, and be merry! What good is life otherwise?
